Eni: plans to phase out palm oil raw materials by 2023
Recently, Eni said that the company is reviewing its supply chain and plans to stop using palm oil and its derivative palm fatty acid distillate (PFAD) by 2023. Last year, the European Union concluded that palm oil diesel is unsustainable and will deactivate similar high-emission biofuels in 2030.
Eni said that the company plans to stop using palm oil and palm fatty acid distillate to produce biodiesel by the end of 2023. Eni also plans to increase the annual production capacity of fuels using biomass or raw materials to 5 million tons by 2050, which will reduce its absolute life cycle greenhouse gas emissions by 2035 by 30% on the basis of 2018 The emissions by 2050 will be reduced by 80% on the basis of 2018.
