BASF is building a number of world-class scale installations in Zhanjiang
On March 13, BASF broke ground on an Acrylic acid production at its integrated site in Zhanjiang, consisting of an GAA plant, a BA plant and a 2-EHA plant.
Hartwig Michels, President of BASF's Petrochemicals business, said: This ground breaking is an important milestone in further expanding our Acrylic acid’s value chain capacity in China. These new world-class facilities will help us meet the growing demand for Acrylic acid products in the Chinese and Asian markets."
These world-class scale production units are scheduled to begin production in 2025 and will have an annual capacity of approximately 400,000 tons of Butyl Acrylate and approximately 100,000 tons of 2-Ethylhexyl acrylate.
BASF's integrated base project in Zhanjiang, officially announced in July 2018, is its largest investment project to date and is independently built and operated by BASF. BASF will invest up to 10 billion euros to build the site by 2030. The first set will be built by piling in 2020 and put into production by the end of September
At present, BASF is fully promoting the backward integration capability of the Zhanjiang integration Base. The new Acrylic acid facility will provide product supply to customers in its region and shorten the delivery cycle. In addition, BASF announced on March 7 that it will invest in a new world-class citral facility in Zhanjiang.
