Refinery Production Down Year-on-year and from Target in April

Production of crude oil derived refined products during April, 2018 was 19,852.83-tmt (thousand metric tonnes), which is 3.43% lower than the target for the month and 0.87% lower when compared with April, 2017.

Production by public sector refineries during April, 2018 was 11,635.25-tmt, which is 0.59% lower than the target for the month, but 4.20% higher than the production achieved in the corresponding month of last year. At the Paradip refinery of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), production was lower due delay in stabilisation post a maintenance shutdown, while at the Visakhapatnam refinery of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (HPCL), production declined due to unplanned CDU shutdown. At Chennai Petroleum and Chemicals Ltd. (CPCL), a shutdown in FCCU/DCU affected production adversely.

Production in joint venture refineries during April, 2018 were 1,500.66-tmt, which is 8.19% higher than the target for the month and 9.34% higher than the production achieved in the corresponding month of last year. There was a shortfall in production in the Bina Oil Refinery Ltd. (BORL), which was mainly due to outage of refinery hydrocracker unit. Production in private refineries during April, 2018 was 6,716.93-tmt, which is lower than the target for the month and when compared with April, 2017 by 10.05% and 10.29 % respectively.
