Strike wave comes, chemical industry chain or will be 'shut down'!
German transport authorities are bracing for an unprecedented "mega strike". Or affect the normal operation of other European ports.
The strike by Verdi, Germany's service workers' union, and EVG, the rail transport union, covers railways, airports, ports, public transport and motorways. The massive strike aims to bring Germany's transport and public transport systems to a standstill.
The strike began mainly after midnight on Sunday and affected services throughout Monday. The strike is Germany's biggest in decades and will cause widespread disruption to railways, ports and airports in Europe's largest economy.
Germany's two main trade unions have called a general strike in the transport industry after failing to reach an agreement. In a prelude to the general strike, transport was disrupted in some areas even on Sunday.
