US sheet steel buyers placing minimal orders as prices slide
Leeds-based Cromwell Polythene has been named as a preferred supplier of specialist waste management and recycling sacks to the National Procurement Service (NPS), a cross-sector collaborative framework for the Welsh region.
The company has been awarded a place on the waste disposal bags framework for three product categories - domestic and commercial refuse bags, compostable liners and miscellaneous waste sacks, together worth a potential £13.5m.
Cromwell managing director James Lee said: “While being appointed to the framework is in itself a significant achievement, we are very much aware that the NPS’s 73 customers are at liberty to award contracts either directly, by undertaking a desktop analysis of framework rates, or to undertake a further competition against their specific requirements.
“Having now been nominated by most of the major frameworks in the UK – and gained significant incremental business as a result - we are confident that with this appointment we can similarly reinforce our strong market position in the Welsh public sector.”
In June, Cromwell Polythene was appointed as an approved supplier to two Scottish councils following successful tender submissions.
