Skincare Dominates in in-cosmetics Asia Awards for 2023

The forthcoming trade show dedicated to personal care ingredients in Bangkok, Thailand, scheduled for November 7 to 9, 2023, has revealed the official shortlist for this year's Innovation Zone Awards[1].

Unveiling the trends shaping the Asian personal care market, skincare products emerge as the frontrunners among the 20 shortlisted ingredients. Following skincare, haircare and suncare products also feature prominently.

The winners in the two categories, "best active ingredient" and "best functional ingredient," are set to be announced during the awards ceremony at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC) on Wednesday, November 8.

Finalists in the Best Active Ingredient category include:

- Algaktiv Collage by Algaktiv: A 2-in-1 firming complex utilizing vegan, upcycled peptides, standardized in glycine, proline, and hydroxyproline.

- Col-4-Frag remastered by LipoTrue: A revamped collagen concept acting as a foundation and enhancer for collagen synthesis while firming the dermis and epidermis.

- Hairvivine-Pro by Rahn AG: A water-based extract derived from Styrian pumpkin seeds, providing essential amino acids and carbohydrates to support hair follicle health.

- Holobiosys by Greentech: A COSMOS-certified organic upcycled active ingredient derived from wild yellow gentian root extract, enhancing hyaluronic acid and lipid synthesis while restoring skin hydration and fortifying the epidermal barrier.

- Immunight by Lucas Meyer Cosmetics: A green-processed oil-soluble lavandin extract designed to counter the effects of poor-quality sleep on skin, promoting nighttime skin recovery and enhancing sleep quality through olfactory compounds.

- Perfeline-Fit by Rahn AG: A water-based extraction of Helichrysum italicum synangustifolium, chlorogenic acid, and di-O-caffeoylquinic acids to strengthen micro-vessels in human skin.

- Regenight by Lucas Meyer Cosmetics: An active ingredient improving sleep quality, elevating melatonin pathway gene expression, boosting antioxidant capacity, and enhancing skin regeneration while reducing oxidative stress.

- Regetaste by Codif Technologie Naturelle: An anti-ageing epidermal ingredient improving skin texture and brightness.

- Sagacious by Seppic Asia: A biomimetic anti-ageing active derived from Himanthalia elongata seaweed with proven anti-sagging benefits.

- Uplevity e-Lift peptide by Lubrizol: A tetrapeptide mimicking the benefits of electrical stimulation, offering an upper face lifted appearance and reducing wrinkle visibility.

Shortlisted ingredients in the Best Functional Ingredient category are:

- Aristoflex Eco T by Clariant: A biodegradable ingredient based on renewable sources, providing rheology, oil and particle stabilization, and a pleasant skin feel.

- Belsil EG 3000 by Wacker Chemicals (South Asia): A transparent silicone elastomer gel offering a pleasant skin feel as an additive in products like moisturizing creams, foundations, and deodorants.

- Bentone Plus Glow by Elementis: A combination of natural ingredients designed to provide rheological control and suspension in cosmetics and skincare products, promoting the skin's barrier function.

- EcoSense APP-1000 Surfactant by Dow Company: A nature-derived, high-performance surfactant enhancing the performance of other bio-based surfactants, enabling naturally derived formulations.

- Emulium Dermolea MB by Gattefossé: A plant-based O/W emulsifier rich in sterols and triterpenes, reducing skin stress and delivering long-term soothing.

- EverGuard CY by Sino Lion USA: A broad-spectrum preservative suitable for a range of personal care and cosmetic applications, including creams, lotions, facial masks, sunscreens, wipes, and more.

- NatPro 8000 by Chemrez Technologies: A natural broad-spectrum preservative and antimicrobial active derived from sustainably sourced coconuts.

- Softisan MagicPowder S by IOI Oleo: A water-resistant/waterbinding vegan film-former offering a barrier-protecting effect and a caring smooth feel for safe formulas.

- Tinomax CC by BASF: A functionalized, natural-based particle enhancing sunscreen performance for SPF and UVAA in eco-friendly systems.
