Sixth CIIE's 'High-Quality Development of Cosmetics' Roundtable Unveils Beauty Industry's Innovative Strategies and Green Initiatives for Sustainable Growth
China's quest for high-quality development embraces a fresh perspective as the Sixth China International Import Expo Exhibition Alliance Daily Chemical Consumer Goods Committee convenes the "High-Quality Development of Cosmetics" Roundtable. The event, held at the National Convention and Exhibition Center in Shanghai, featured prominent figures such as Geng Hongzhou from the Ministry of Commerce, Zhang Weimin from the National Convention and Exhibition Center, Yan Jiangying from the China Fragrances, Flavors and Cosmetics Industry Association, and Tang Jiansheng from the Shanghai Consumer Rights Protection Foundation.
Representatives from industry giants like L’Oreal, Shiseido, Procter & Gamble, Unilever, Estee Lauder, Kao, Amorepacific, Coty, and Kose engaged in discussions. Notably, the roundtable also saw the joint launch of the "Love Recycling, Love the Earth" green consumption initiative.

In 2023, the Ministry of Commerce, aligning with the "Consumption Boost Year" theme, recognizes the rising consumer appeal of the beauty industry. Under the banner of "Beautiful New Potential Energy, New Consumption Dynamic Energy," the roundtable delved into "New Consumption Scenarios" and "Sustainable Transformation." The focus was on propelling the beauty industry towards greater integrity and innovation, contributing to the "beauty economy's" role in driving consumption.
Zhang Weimin welcomed attendees, urging companies to leverage the CIIE to explore new models in the cosmetics industry. Geng Hongzhou emphasized the Ministry's commitment to supporting high-quality development, while Yan Jiangying outlined the cosmetics industry's path, emphasizing inheritance, innovation, and green practices.
Summarizing 2022 achievements, Yu Lili, Shiseido China's corporate communications head, highlighted the committee's efforts in green innovation and sustainable development. As Chinese consumers' demands for beauty products escalate, the industry experiences a surge in innovation and high-quality development.
L'Oreal, taking the helm for the seventh special committee, aspires for a more practical, cross-border, and international approach. Lan Zhenzhen, L'Oreal North Asia and China's president of public affairs, envisions collaborative efforts to foster breakthrough opportunities for the beauty industry's high-quality development.
The release of the "Love Recycling, Love the Earth" initiative, spearheaded by the Shanghai Consumer Rights Protection Foundation, aims to make bottle recycling a trend in the Chinese beauty market. Tang Jiansheng emphasizes the potential impact of this initiative, urging like-minded individuals to join the cause through the CIIE platform.
Post-meeting discussions delved into "new beauty consumption scenarios" and "embracing sustainable transformation," sparking innovative ideas for the beauty industry's future, including policy empowerment and circular economy models. The event showcased a commitment to advancing the beauty industry's high-quality development and its integral role in China's consumer market.
