The added value of the chemical industry in 2020 will increase by 3.4% year-on-year

According to data recently released by the National Development and Reform Commission, the added value of the chemical industry in 2020 will increase by 3.4% year-on-year, and the growth rate will drop by 1.4% year-on-year.

Among the main products, the output of ethylene was 21.6 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 4.9%. The output of primary form plastics was 103.55 million tons, an increase of 7%; the output of synthetic rubber was 7.4 million tons, an increase of 0.5%; the output of synthetic fibers was 56.34 million tons, an increase of 3.8%. The output of caustic soda was 36.43 million tons, an increase of 5.7%; the output of soda ash was 28.12 million tons, a decrease of 2.9%. The output of chemical fertilizer was 53.96 million tons, a decrease of 0.9%; of this, nitrogen fertilizer increased by 2.7%, phosphate fertilizer decreased by 6.9%, and potash fertilizer decreased by 7%. The output of pesticides was 2.15 million tons, down 1.1%. The output of rubber tires was 818.48 million, an increase of 1.7%. The output of calcium carbide was 27.92 million tons, an increase of 4.5%.

Among the key chemical products monitored, the prices of some products have risen from the previous month. In December 2020, the average price of caustic soda (flake soda) was 1930 CNY/ton, down 3.5% from the previous month and 30.3% year-on-year; soda ash (heavy ash) was 1680 CNY/ton, down 15.2% from the previous month and 1.8% year-on-year %. Urea was 1,830 CNY/ton, up 1.7% from the previous month and 8.9% year-on-year; domestically produced diammonium phosphate was 2,420 CNY/ton, up 2.1% from the previous month and 7.6% year-on-year. Calcium carbide is 3960 CNY/ton, up 23% from the previous month and 47.8% year-on-year.
