Nufarm is exclusively licensed by IBI-Ag to collaborate on the commercial development of several new biological insecticides

2024-01-05

Nufarm and IBI-Ag announced a collaboration in which Nufarm received an exclusive license to further develop several specific biocide candidates discovered by IBI-Ag, with the option to exclusively commercialize them.

Founded by Bayer Trendlines Ag Innovation Fund, IBI-Ag is a leading agrobiologics company that develops single-domain antibody insecticides to increase crop yields in a way that is not harmful to farmers, consumers and the environment. A single-domain antibody (sdAb) is a fragment that contains a single variable domain of an antibody, and the Ablynx company that developed this technology calls it a Nanobody. Like whole antibodies, it can selectively bind to specific antigens. Compared to the 150-160 kda mass of complete antibodies, single-domain antibodies are much smaller, about 12-15kDa

″Arnon Heyman, Chief Executive Officer of IBI-Ag, said: "We are delighted to enter into a new partnership with Nufarm, a renowned global leader in crop protection and seed solutions. This collaboration is an important milestone in the development of IBI-Ag, as it not only demonstrates our outstanding technological advances, but also highlights the strength of our product matching to the market and our comprehensive marketing strategy. By joining forces with Nufarm, we are confident that we can amplify our impact on agriculture and further the development of sustainable agricultural practices.”

Rico Christensen, Head of Product Portfolio at Nufarm, said: "Innovation and technology are the cornerstones of our future, and we work together to ensure that we can deliver innovative solutions to our customers. This agreement gives us a new way to deliver better solutions for farmers today and in the future.”
