Lifileucel is the world's first FDA-approved TIL therapy, designed to treat advanced melanoma that has progressed after PD-1 antibody therapy. TIL therapy involves isolating lymphocytes from tumors, expanding them in vitro, and reinfusing them into patients. With TIL cells specifically recognizing and targeting patient-specific cancer cells, this therapy offers a promising avenue for personalized cancer treatment.
2. TCR-T Therapy: Expanding Targeting to Intracellular Antigens
Adaptimmune's TCR-T therapy, Afami-cel, achieved FDA acceptance for its marketing application in the treatment of synovial sarcoma on January 31, 2024. Afami-cel holds the potential to become the first T-cell therapy for solid tumors, expanding the scope of immunotherapy to intracellular targets.
