Dsm Firmenich will spin off Animal Nutrition & Health unit
Dutch-Swiss giant Dsm Firmenich wants to separate from its Animal Nutrition & Health (ANH) unit by 2025 to focus on three other businesses: Perfume & Beauty (P&B); Taste, Texture & Health (TTH) and Health, Nutrition & Care (HNC).
The merger of DSM and Firmenich creates a world leader in nutrition, health and beauty, but the ANH business has a different dynamic than the rest of the group, the multinational said in a statement.
The ANH business, headquartered in Kaiselaugst, not far from Basel, Switzerland, had a turnover of more than 3.2 billion euros last year and accounted for a quarter of DSM Firmenich's revenue. However, this weighed on results for fiscal 2023, particularly due to volatility in the vitamin market.
"This is a difficult moment, but we firmly believe that separation is better for both the business and its employees," commented Dimitri de Vreeze, CEO of DSM Firmenich. The group said the sale of the ANH business will allow the group to consolidate its world-leading position in nutrition, health and beauty.
"Completely focused on Fragrance & Beauty (P&B); Taste, Texture & Health (TTH); and Health, Nutrition & Care (HNC), the company can further develop its complementary world-class scientific research, technology and manufacturing excellence. Full focus on these businesses is expected to enhance their commercial potential and synergies, supporting attractive and sustained growth prospects as well as strong margins," DSM Firmenich detailed.
