Dsm-firmenich increases perfumery ingredients production capacity
Dsm-firmenich has opened two production plants in Castets, southwest France, for the production of perfume raw materials. The first plant is a multipurpose unit for the production of pine-based ingredients, and the second brand-new plant is dedicated to the production of biodegradable musk Habanolide®. These expansions meet the rapidly growing demand for sustainable products.
"As well as helping us provide additional capacity to Europe's fragrance industry, these expansion projects further strengthen our strategic position and enable us to capture future growth opportunities. These two additional facilities also make a significant contribution to our sustainability goals by reducing the carbon footprint of our logistics operations in the region, while helping our customers achieve their own sustainability goals. " said Emmanuel Butstraen, President of Dsm-firmenich’s Fragrance and Beauty Business.
The new multipurpose facility is an additional production unit designed to ensure the supply of various finished products and intermediates for the fragrance market. It increases the on-site production capacity of biosourced renewable components from pine trees.
The new Habanolide facility complements the existing production line in New Jersey, USA, and will significantly increase the production capacity of this fragrance ingredient. Habanolide is an elegant macrocyclic musk with a warm and slightly woody aroma and is one of Dsm-firmenich's best-selling ingredients.
The biofeedstock plant received a €2.8 million subsidy from the Nouvelle Aquitaine region to improve the company's industrial performance and energy efficiency. The Habanolide® expansion project has received a €1 million grant as part of the national recovery plan implemented by the French government and the Nouvelle Aquitaine region to accelerate industrial investment in France.
