FMC to distribute Novonesis Biosolutions products in Canada
FMC Corporation, a leading global agricultural science company, announces a collaboration in Canada with Novonesis, formerly Novozymes, a leader in plant bio-solutions. The agreement is part of FMC's strategic plan to grow its biologics platform in key markets.
Beginning June 1, 2024, FMC Canada will be the exclusive distributor of Novonesis' leading biosolutions products for the 2025 growing season, including established brands such as TagTeam, Optimize, JumpStart, BioniQ, Cell-Tech and Nitragin. In addition, the two companies will leverage their respective research and development capabilities to collaborate on the development of new biotechnologies for Canadian farmers.
The collaboration will leverage Novonesis' plant biosolutions manufacturing and research site in Saskatoon, Canada, as well as FMC's deep market knowledge and expertise in the integrated application of biologics with synthetic crop protection chemistry and precision agriculture technologies.
"FMC is pleased to partner with Novonesis to bring effective biological products to Canadian growers that complement our biological and synthetic chemistry,” said Dr. Bénédicte Flambard, Vice President of FMC Plant Health. "As we continue to invest in and expand our biologics portfolio, we are committed to working with our partners to enhance our ability to provide growers around the world with science-backed biologic solutions that help manage crops sustainably, protect yields and combat resistance to pesticides. "
Over the past five years, FMC has launched some 40 biological products in 24 countries, including Accudo biostimulant, Provilar biofungicide and Avodigen seed treatment, and is one of the few companies with a fully global presence. The company's geographic footprint and its core product portfolio, market access and complementary technologies position FMC as the world's top integrated solutions provider, helping growers feed the world sustainably.
Devron McLeod, FMC Canada Regional Manager said: "Novonesis and FMC share similar goals of providing differentiated, sustainable solutions to Canadian farmers. "Adapting our technologies and systems to bring new inoculants and biocontrol products to market will benefit Canadian farmers. This collaboration provides an even more significant opportunity to bring innovative products to market faster. "
Jason Ward, North America commercial director at Novonesis Plant Biosolutions said:"FMC has a strong presence in Canada with continued growth, a complementary product portfolio, and an organization with a proven track record of innovation that delivers value to Canadian farmers. "This expanded relationship between the two companies demonstrates our shared commitment to providing growers with products that can be used to increase yields by increasing nutrient availability and enhancing natural plant processes.
