Bayer joins forces with Trinity Agtech to advance carbon reduction and data monitoring in agriculture
Recently, Global agrochemical giant Bayer has partnered with UK-based technology company Trinity Agtech to promote digital agricultural monitoring and carbon reduction solutions.
Under the agreement, Trinity's cloud platform "Sandy" will support Bayer's carbon initiatives in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa) for measuring and monitoring greenhouse gas emissions at the farm level. Farmers and projects can use the Sandy platform to centralize field data, build the farm's natural capital account, and understand the carbon balance. The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) has named Sandy as the best tool for measuring a farm's carbon footprint.
Through this collaboration, Bayer can develop customized solutions for value chain participants and growers. Leverage the scientific, digital and agronomic strengths of both parties to create a unique regenerative agro-ecosystem and develop high-quality assets for a market that requires a commitment to concrete and credible results.
Bayer said the digital partnership is in line with its "regenerative agriculture" strategy, which aims to drive food production, farmer benefits and climate resilience through innovation, and is in line with the EU Green Deal. In the future, the company will actively guide the agricultural value chain to reduce emissions, rewarding farmers who adopt regenerative practices such as cover crops and reduced tillage.
