Updated Maximum Residue Limits of Pydiflumetofen in Certain Foods in the UK
In a recent announcement, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) of the United Kingdom has proposed revised maximum residue limits (MRLs) for pydiflumetofen in certain food products. This move aims to ensure consumer safety and align with updated regulatory standards.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) in the United Kingdom has recently released a notification, GB MRL2024/008, proposing revised maximum residue limits for pydiflumetofen in select food items. Pydiflumetofen is a pesticide used in agricultural practices, and these revised limits aim to regulate its presence in food products.
The proposed MRLs for pydiflumetofen in various food categories are as follows:
1. Potato, tropical roots and tubers, sugar beet, celeriac, horseradish, Jerusalem artichoke, radish, ginseng, rutabaga/swede, turnip, other root and tuber vegetables, bulb vegetables, flowering brassica vegetables, kohlrabi, leafy vegetables, herbs and edible flowers, stem vegetables, chicory roots: 0.06 mg/kg.
2. Carrot, black radish, parsley root/hamburg root parsley: 0.2 mg/kg.
3. Barley, oats: 0.5 mg/kg.
4. Rye, wheat: 0.08 mg/kg.
5. Pork, beef, lamb, goat, horse, poultry, and other farmed land animals (muscle, fat, liver, kidney, edible offal excluding liver and kidneys), other products from pigs, cattle, sheep, goats, horses, poultry, and farmed land animals, milk, goat milk, sheep milk, horse milk, other milk and fat, eggs, duck eggs, goose eggs, quail eggs, and other poultry eggs: 0.01 mg/kg*.
6. Honey and other bee products: 0.05 mg/kg*.
Please note that MRL represents the maximum residue level, and * indicates that the MRL is proposed below the limit of quantification (LOQ).
These revised limits came into effect from April 5, 2024, as stated in the announcement. The objective behind these revisions is to ensure the safety and quality of food products consumed in the UK.
