Adama's post-emergence herbicide EDAPTIS® is coming to Europe

2024-05-07

Adama recently announced that EDAPTIS® has been registered for the first time in Poland. As a ready-to-use solution, EDAPTIS® can control a wide range of grass weeds and is effective against resistant weeds.

EDAPTIS® is a foliar-sprayed post-emergence herbicide with a unique formulation that combines the mechanisms of action of two of the most advanced weed resistance foliar-herbicides, Pinoxaden and Mesosulfuron-methyl. By combining the action mechanism of first class and second class grass weeds, the product not only expands the killing spectrum, but also improves the efficacy of resistant weeds compared with the mainstream products of the same kind in the market, so that the difficult to kill grass weeds are difficult to get vitality.

Formulations combining dual mechanisms of action are common in pre-emergence and closed herbicides, but postemergence products that can be used to control grass weeds are rare. Cutting-edge research on herbicide resistance shows that, compared with the traditional practice of rotating herbicides with different mechanisms of action, mixing multiple mechanisms of action is more effective in reducing weed resistance.

In addition to its superior efficacy, EDAPTIS® is also good for sustainability. The product uses refined rapeseed oil to prepare OP, which enhances environmental protection characteristics. The entire production process begins with the use of rapeseed oil grown by farmers, which is refined and formulated into the required product.

″Darren Palendat, Director of Global herbicide product Strategy at Adama, said: "Farmers across Europe are in desperate need of innovative, quality solutions that deliver real field benefits, hence the growing importance of addressing weed resistance in grasses. However, the withdrawal of many herbicides, particularly pre-emergence herbicide products, from the market due to increasing regulatory restrictions has increased the urgency of addressing resistance issues. At Adama, we think outside the box and ensure that our solutions deliver real value to our customers based on a deep understanding of farmers' needs and market dynamics. With ADOPTS®, we are changing the way farmers think about long-term weed resistance management.

Following the registration in Poland, EDAPTIS® is expected to be registered in several European countries, including France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy and Spain
