OQ Chemicals resumes operations at German plant

ECHEMI 2024-05-09

Global chemicals company OQ Chemicals has successfully resumed production at its sites in Oberhausen and Marl, Germany, after overcoming recent disruptions at raw material supplier syngas plants. This disruptions resulted in declarations of force majeure for certain products.

During the operational pause, OQ Chemicals implemented strategic enhancements to optimize production processes, such as data flows and work processes across asset management, operations technology, and engineering. These improvements are designed to increase efficiency and reliability, in line with OQ Chemical's commitment to digitalization and process development.

Albrecht Schwerin, COO of OQ Chemicals said: "We are pleased to report that our plant in Germany can ramp up again. The unpredictable closure was not easy for us, especially after the high levels of customer demand we experienced. Nonetheless, OQ Chemical remains committed to supporting customers throughout the outage. Leveraging our cross-functional, international manufacturing platform, we strive to supply customers from alternative locations to minimize the impact on their operations and supply chains."
