Mowilex recycled paint with lower environmental impact arrives in Indonesia
The new Mowilex Recycled paints produced by PT Mowilex Indonesia (Mowilex) reduce water usage, save energy and cut the carbon footprint of each 2.5-litre bucket of new paint by up to 60%. By reusing up to 40% of premium Mowilex paint in each Mowilex Recycled container, the company also reduces potential waste without compromising quality.
To produce Mowilex Recycled, the company starts with its own premium discontinued colours and unused stock that may have aged, dried out or come in dented cans. Rather than throwing these paints away, Mowilex evaluates, processes and repurposes them. The rejected stock is reprocessed to create new Mowilex Recycled paints, which are manufactured to the same high standards as other Mowilex paint formulas. This means there is no difference in overall quality.
The pre-mixed Mowilex Recycled paints are low in VOCs and available in eight popular pastel colours with a luxurious matte finish. The durable interior paint is also suitable for use outdoors in areas not exposed to direct sunlight.
Recycling paint benefits communities by reducing environmental impact. It also reduces the need for new raw materials and reduces the energy required for extraction and manufacturing. For example, by repurposing existing premium products to produce Mowilex Recycled, the company saves up to 8% of clean water by volume for each gallon of recycled paint. Mowilex Recycled reduces its overall carbon footprint by up to 60% compared to paint products of the same quality and formulation.
By recovering and reprocessing titanium dioxide and other ingredients from unused paint stock that would normally be destined for waste disposal, the company minimizes the extraction and manufacturing of virgin raw materials, which is energy-intensive. Incorporating processed existing products into Mowilex Recycled also reduces the disposal of unused premium paint.
"Mowilex Recycled offers an option for customers who prefer high-quality, low-carbon footprint products. By extensively treating and reprocessing our premium, substandard stock, we avoid disposing of it as waste," said Niko Safavi, CEO of PT Mowilex Indonesia."Mowilex Recycled paints are also attractively priced, so customers can enjoy a quality product at great value for money while reducing their environmental impact."
