Brazil's corn fungicide market analysis: Fluxapyroxad + Pyraclostrobin +Mefentrifluconazole triple fungicide is the most outstanding!

Recently, The Tropical Phytosanitary Network (RFT) has published the results of a study on maize crop protection in Brazil. The study evaluated the effectiveness of 11 registered and pending fungicides on the market against maize leaf spot disease, and the results showed that the triple fungicide containing Fluxapyroxad + Pyraclostrobin +Mefentrifluconazole was the most effective in controlling the disease. 

Maize leaf spot is a serious disease caused by the bacterium Pantoea ananatis. The purpose of RFT research is to evaluate the effectiveness of different fungicide products in the control of such diseases, and to provide scientific decision support for technicians and producers.

The study involved 30 experiments at 25 representative sites in Brazil covering 11 fungicide products. The results showed that the triple mixture of fungicides not only achieved 72.8% average control rate of maize leaf spot, but also showed outstanding performance in improving productivity maintenance, reaching 43.5%. Compared with the widely used dual active ingredient products on the market (Epoxiconazole + Pyraclostrobin), the control efficiency was improved by 17.4% and the productivity maintenance was improved by 13%.

According to Kynetec Brazil, the market for fungicides for summer and second season maize in Brazil grew from R $561 million in 2014-15 to R $2.83 billion in 2022-23. Among them, mixtures consisting of triazole and methoxyacrylates accounted for 55% of the market, and formamides accounted for 25%. At the same time, protective fungicides accounted for only 7% of the market, with Benzimidazole and Triazole each accounting for 4%.
