Diabetes Drug Procurement: Diverse Strategies and Market Dynamics
In the recent round of centralized procurement of insulin, the market dynamics have attracted widespread attention. It is noteworthy that 14 products from five well-known pharmaceutical companies successfully bid after price adjustments, with Ganlee Pharmaceutical becoming the focus of this procurement.
Ganlee Pharmaceutical's six products were all selected, especially its core product, insulin glargine injection, which saw a price increase of 16.59 yuan per unit. This price hike has undoubtedly brought significant economic benefits to Ganlee Pharmaceutical. Impacted by this positive news, Ganlee Pharmaceutical's stock price surged to the daily limit on the secondary market, fully reflecting the market's recognition of its future growth potential.
According to the procurement policy, products selected as Class A will gain a larger market share, which undoubtedly provides strong support for Ganlee Pharmaceutical's further development. All six of its products were classified as Class A, not only meaning a larger market space but also indicating an improvement in profitability, thereby solidifying its leading position in the fierce market competition.
In contrast, Tong Hua Dong Bao, another major player in the insulin market, chose a completely different strategy. In this bidding, while all six of Tong Hua Dong Bao's products were selected, the prices of five of them declined to varying degrees, with the highest drop reaching 43.35% for insulin detemir. This move by Tong Hua Dong Bao was evidently to sacrifice some profit in exchange for a larger market share, aiming to maintain its influence in the market.
Compared to the above, the foreign-funded companies Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk adopted a more cautious strategy when facing the centralized procurement. In the bidding process, these two companies proactively withdrew, choosing to make strategic adjustments to their product lines. This strategy reflects that when facing market pressure, companies will make rational decisions based on their own advantages and market environment to ensure long-term market competitiveness and sustainable development.
Overall, this insulin procurement has fully demonstrated the diversified strategies and flexible response capabilities of companies in market competition. Whether it is choosing to increase prices and win the bid, reducing prices to pursue market share, or strategically adjusting the product line, these are rational choices made by companies based on their own situations and market prospects. This also provides valuable reference and inspiration for other pharmaceutical companies.
