Attention! Imported Jasmine Green Tea Detected Excessive Pesticide Residues

ECHEMI 2024-07-16

On July 16, 2024, the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration issued a list of unqualified imported food, showing that a batch of jasmine green tea imported from Poland was detected with excessive pesticide residues.

It is reported that the batch of jasmine green tea is produced by R. Twining and Company Limited and imported by Taiwan Yingli Food and Beverage Co., LTD. The test results showed that the pesticide Indeco was detected in the batch of jasmine green tea at 0.12ppm, exceeding the upper limit of 0.01ppm allowed by food regulations.

A total of 38.88 kg of substandard products have been returned or destroyed. The food industry reminded that import enterprises must strengthen the control of purchase channels, ensure that imported food meets the requirements of domestic laws and regulations, and maintain consumer food safety.

In the face of this detection event, how should we respond? First of all, relevant departments should strengthen law enforcement and strictly control the quality of imported food. At the same time, production enterprises should implement the main responsibility of food safety and effectively perform internal control and management responsibilities. In addition, consumers should also be vigilant and pay more attention to product sources and certification when purchasing. Only the joint efforts of all parties can ensure the safety and quality of imported food.
