Merck's Stellar Half-Year Performance: Blockbuster Cancer Drug and HPV Vaccine Dominate
In the first half of 2024, Merck Sharp & Dohme, a world-renowned pharmaceutical giant, delivered a remarkable financial report. According to public data, during this period the company's total revenue reached $31.875 billion, compared with the same period last year increased by 8%, shows its steady business growth. The main drivers of this growth came from its star product in oncology treatment, pembrolizumab, known as drug K, and its HPV vaccine GARDASIL/GARDASIL9.
K, as "the pearl on the crown of" MSD, since 2015, its sales have been maintained strong growth momentum. In the past nine years, created a $101.546 billion K drug accumulative total sales success, become a landmark in the global pharmaceutical industry products. In the first half of the vaccine's total sales reached $4.727 billion, set up a new milestone for global HPV vaccine market. In addition, Merck Sharp & Dohme's 15-valent pneumococcal vaccine Vaxneuvance also performed well, with first-half sales of $408 million, up 49% year over year, and gaining significant market share in the prevention of pneumonia disease.
