China Accelerates Global Pharmaceutical Companies' Entry! China's NMPA Promotes New Drug Approval and International Trade Policies
On September 13, Li Li, director of the State Medical Products Administration, made clear his support for open cooperation in the pharmaceutical industry at a high-profile press conference. He stressed the importance of strengthening the transformation and implementation of international regulatory rules in our country, and regarded it as an important measure to promote the development of the pharmaceutical industry. Director Li further said that supporting technology to carry out international multi-center clinical trials and promote the synchronous research and development, declaration, review and listing of global drugs in the industry in China is of great significance for enhancing China's voice in the international pharmaceutical field.
Secretary Li also put forward an innovative proposal to explore the staged production model of biological products. This is particularly applicable to pilot projects in selected regions, targeting innovative and clinically urgent biologics. He said that this will effectively improve production efficiency and shorten the time to market of drugs in order to better meet the medical needs of patients.
Speaking about the pharmaceutical import and export trade, Li stressed the need to increase efforts to support the development of this sector. He advocated speeding up the approval of new drugs that have been listed overseas in the domestic market, resulting in a shorter time for new drugs to be listed in China. He also encouraged multinational enterprises to transfer their original chemical drugs, biological products and high-end medical equipment to domestic production, which can not only improve the technical level of the domestic pharmaceutical industry, but also promote domestic economic development.
Li Li also proposed to improve the relevant policies of pharmaceutical export sales certificate, the purpose is to simplify the export process to reduce the export cost of enterprises, and encourage more Chinese pharmaceutical enterprises to go abroad to participate in international trade. His ultimate goal is to give Chinese medicines more opportunities to serve the whole human race and enhance China's competitiveness in the global pharmaceutical market.
