New EU Regulations Approve Multiple Feed Additives, Authorization Period Until 2034

On September 10, 2024, the European Commission issued a number of regulations relating to the approval and extension of the authorisation period for animal feed additives. Specific provisions are as follows:

1. In accordance with Regulation (EU) 2024/2389, Sedumycin sodium preparation is approved as a feed additive for fattening chickens, classified in the category of "anticoccidifier and histomonad inhibitor", with the authorization period extended until 30 September 2034, with effect from the 20th day of the publication of the Regulation.

2. Regulation (EU) 2024/2388 extends the authorisation period of preparation DSM23689 as an additive for all animal feeds, which falls within the functional group "silage additives" in the category "technical additives", similarly until 30 September 2034, It shall come into force on the 20th day after the promulgation of the regulation.

3. Regulation (EU) 2024/2221 extends the approval period for seven active substances, including chlorchloridine, aluminum silicate, chlorchloridine, vegetable oil/rapeseed oil, dimethyloquinone, emamectin, fatty acids C7 to C20 and dimethylpentalin. The ratification period is extended to March 31, 2026, November 15, 2026, December 1, 2026, and January 15, 2027, respectively, with effect from the 20th day of the date of publication of the regulation.

4. Regulation (EU) 2024/2385 authorizes 4-methyl-5-vinylthiazole as an additive to all animal feed, which is classified in the functional group "flavouring compounds" in the category "Sensory additives", with the authorisation period extended until 30 September 2034, with effect from the twentieth day of the date of publication of the Regulation.

5. Regulation (EU) 2024/2394 extends the authorisation period for preparation of Enterococcus lactate NCIMB 10415 as a feed additive for cats and dogs, which falls within the category of "technical additives", with functional groups of "intestinal flora stabilizers" for cats and "technical additives for other animals" for dogs. The authorization period is extended to September 30, 2034, with effect from the 20th day of publication of the regulation.
