OM Marine of Singapore has successfully ordered two 13,800 DWT stainless steel chemical tankers in China by Jiangxi Xinjiangzhou Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Company. The signing of the new shipbuilding contract, which marks a further deepening of the cooperation between OM Maritime and Shinjiangzhou Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Company, was jointly completed by OM Maritime's founder and CEO Captain Subhangshu Dutt and Shinjiangzhou Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Company's General manager Wu Qiuping.

In an interview with Seatrade Maritime News, Captain Dutt said that the current second-hand ship market prices continue to rise, and the market for the sale of older vessels, there is a greater risk of buying a second-hand ship. As a result, OM Maritime decided to order new vessels to respond to market changes and to guarantee operational safety.

The chemical tanker order is highly aligned with OM Marine's current focus on the chemical/product tanker market. OM Maritime currently has three tankers in the pool and six time charter vessels, three of which are also in the pool and three in the spot market, according to the company's website.

The two new vessels will be classified and certified by the internationally renowned Bureau Veritas and will fly the Singapore flag. The new vessels will be capable of carrying a wide range of cargo, including chemicals, acids, petroleum products and oils, safely and efficiently.

Since its establishment in 2007, OM Maritime has focused on ship ownership, leasing, financing and commercial services, and is committed to providing high-quality and efficient shipping solutions to customers around the world. This new ship order not only demonstrates OM Maritime's confidence and determination in the chemical/product tanker market, but also further strengthens its leading position in the global shipping market.
