UBE to increase production capacity of high-purity nitric acid for semiconductors
UBE Industries, Ltd. has decided to expand the production capacity of high-purity nitric acid at the Ube Chemical Plant (Ube City, Yamaguchi Prefecture) to meet further growing demand in the future.
The new facility construction plan follows the expansion of manufacturing facilities in early fiscal 2024, and will further increase production capacity by approximately 30% from the current level.
In recent years, the market for high-purity nitric acid used in semiconductor cleaning and etching processes has continued to grow. Since the start of production in 1986, Ube Industries has gradually increased production capacity as the semiconductor market has expanded domestically and overseas, and has maintained a high market share in Japan. Ube Industries decided to increase production capacity because demand in the semiconductor market is expected to expand with the realization of an advanced ICT society such as AI, data centers, and mobility.
UBE uses its proprietary high-purity technology and quality control capabilities to produce stable high-purity nitric acid that is indispensable for semiconductor manufacturing. UBE's high-purity products are used in semiconductor manufacturing processes in Japan and overseas. UBE will continue to increase its production capacity in a timely manner to meet the growing demand for high-purity chemicals in line with the digitalization of society and will drive the expansion of its specialty businesses, including high-purity ammonia.
