FDA Issues Urgent Recall for Over 2 Million MadeGood Granola Bars

ECHEMI 2025-02-17

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has updated its recall for over 2 million cases of MadeGood granola bars due to potential metal contamination. Originally announced in December, the recall has now been classified as Class II, signifying that the products may cause temporary or reversible health issues, although the risk of serious consequences is considered remote.

These popular granola bars, available on platforms like Amazon and in major retailers including Target, Whole Foods, Wegmans, and CVS, include flavors such as chocolate chip, cookies & crème, and mixed berry. The recall affects products manufactured between January and November 2024.

Consumers who have purchased the affected granola bars are advised to return them to the retailer for a full refund. MadeGood has emphasized that while there is a very small risk of contamination, they are taking precautionary measures to ensure customer safety. No injuries have been reported in connection with this issue.

In a statement, MadeGood noted that they conducted an extensive investigation into the manufacturing process and identified the source of the contamination. The company has taken corrective actions and tested new procedures to prevent future occurrences.

This recall serves as a reminder for consumers to check their pantry and ensure any affected products are returned promptly.
