New Insecticide Launch by Syngenta Set to Transform US Market
Syngenta has announced the imminent registration of its innovative insecticide, isocycloseram, in the United States, branded as PLINAZOLIN® technology. This product is poised to hit the market pending approval from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and will target a variety of crops, including cotton, vegetables, corn, fruit trees, and grains.
The rollout of this technology will occur in phases. The initial phase will offer early pest management solutions for corn, grain, and soybean growers. As pest management challenges evolve, isocycloseram will become a key component of integrated pest management strategies for farmers.
Isocycloseram acts quickly by terminating pest feeding through both contact and ingestion methods. Classified under IRAC Group 30, this new active ingredient provides an additional tool for resistance management. It has already received registration approval in several countries, paving the way for its launch in the US market.
Once EPA approval is granted, products based on PLINAZOLIN® technology will be marketed under the following brand names:
- Equento®: A seed treatment insecticide for grains and soybeans, effectively managing nematodes and other early-season soil pests while being compatible with other seed treatments.
- Opello™: A liquid soil insecticide designed for use at corn planting, targeting corn rootworms and other soil-dwelling pests, and is compatible with starter fertilizers.
While these pests are the initial focus, upcoming product labels will cover a broader range of pests. This development marks a significant advancement in pest control solutions for American farmers.
