Major Investment of 2.2 Billion Yuan by Asahi Kasei Boosts Nantong's Industrial Development
Asahi Kasei Corporation has completed the construction and production of its high-performance materials manufacturing base in Nantong, marking a significant milestone with a total investment of approximately 2.2 billion yuan. This project provides robust support for the optimization of the industrial structure and the enhancement of industrial quality within the Nantong Development Zone.
Asahi Kasei, a leading global enterprise in new material research and manufacturing, established Asahi Kasei Fine Chemicals (Nantong) Co., Ltd. in 2005. This facility specializes in producing two major product lines: curing agents for high-performance polyurethane coatings (HDI polymers) and polycarbonate diols (PCD). These products are widely utilized in high-end applications, such as automotive synthetic leather and electronic coatings, and are recognized for their world-leading technology.
In 2021, Nantong Development Zone launched a spatial reconstruction initiative, with Asahi Kasei being one of the first companies to sign a relocation agreement. Now, it proudly stands as the first company to complete its relocation and commence production. The newly established plant occupies 220 acres and has the capacity to produce 20,000 tons of HDI polymers and 10,200 tons of polycarbonate diols annually. Once fully operational, the annual sales revenue is projected to reach 1.2 billion yuan.
This strategic investment not only reinforces Asahi Kasei’s commitment to the region but also enhances Nantong’s position as a hub for high-performance material manufacturing. The completion of this project is expected to drive further economic growth and attract additional investments in the area.
