Sinopec Expands Guangzhou Hydrogen Fuel Center to Produce 15 Metric Tons Per Day

ECHEMI 2025-03-17

Sinopec recently completed the expansion of its hydrogen fuel cell supply center in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, bringing its daily production to 15 metric tons of 99.999% pure hydrogen, with an annual output of approximately 5,100 tons.

Sinopec said the move will make the center the largest hydrogen fuel cell supply center in South China, greatly enhancing the region's hydrogen energy supply capacity and supporting the rapid development of the hydrogen energy industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Before the expansion, the facility produced 1,500 tons of hydrogen per year. The recent upgrade has more than tripled this capacity, enabling a continuous supply of hydrogen to cities such as Guangzhou, Foshan and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Sinopec has actively promoted the construction of hydrogen energy infrastructure, and has built 11 hydrogen fuel cell supply centers across the country, 142 hydrogen refueling stations across the country, integrating hydrogen production and refueling capabilities, and promoting the adoption of hydrogen energy.
