EPA Issues New Regulation Exempting Potassium Polyaspartate Residue Limits Major Shift in Agricultural Practices
According to the Federal Register, on March 20, 2025, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced regulation number 2025-04707, which exempts Potassium Polyaspartate from residue limits under specific conditions.
The regulation states that when Potassium Polyaspartate is used as an inert ingredient (chelating agent) with a maximum concentration of 10% in pre-harvest formulations, it will be exempt from residue limits. This significant change aims to facilitate the use of this compound in agricultural practices, potentially enhancing crop yields and efficiencies.
This new ruling will take effect on March 20, 2025. Any objections or requests for hearings regarding this exemption must be submitted by May 19, 2025. The EPA's decision reflects a growing recognition of the importance of such compounds in modern farming while ensuring safety standards remain intact.
