Novo Nordisk Submits Higher Dose of Wegovy One in Three Achieves Over 25 Percent Weight Loss
On July 9, 2025, Novo Nordisk announced the submission of a higher-dose formulation of its obesity drug Wegovy to the European Medicines Agency (EMA) for approval. This move marks a significant step in the company’s efforts to expand treatment options for obesity across the European Union.
Clinical trials demonstrated that one in three participants achieved a weight loss of 25% or more, underscoring the enhanced efficacy of the new dosage. Novo Nordisk stated that the higher dose aligns with its mission to provide innovative, patient-focused solutions for individuals living with obesity.
The company aims to make the higher-dose version of Wegovy available across the EU following approval. If successful, this will solidify Wegovy's position as a leading treatment in the obesity drug market.
