Dover announced on July 28, 2026, that it had signed a definitive agreement to acquire polymer-processing equipment manufacturer Cloeren Incorporated.
Following completion, Cloeren will become part of MAAG within Dover’s Pumps & Process Solutions segment. Financial terms were not disclosed, and the transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026, subject to customary closing conditions.
The deal is not an acquisition of polymer-production capacity. It is an investment in critical equipment and engineering capabilities used to convert polymer melt into films, sheets and coated products.
Cloeren provides technology at the forming end of extrusion
Cloeren manufactures custom-designed extrusion T-dies and feedblocks used primarily in polymer and plastics applications.
The company is headquartered in Orange, Texas, and has additional manufacturing operations in Marshall, Texas; Eau Claire, Wisconsin; and Micheldorf, Austria.
In an extrusion line, the feedblock combines different polymer melts or formulations into a defined structure. The T-die then distributes that melt across the width of a film or sheet.
Performance at this stage directly affects thickness uniformity, layer structure, material efficiency and production speed. In multilayer packaging, optical films, coated materials and high-performance sheets, flow-channel design can be a critical part of the manufacturing process.
Cloeren’s strategic value therefore lies less in standardized machinery volume and more in custom engineering, flow design and accumulated process knowledge.
MAAG already covers melt transport and preparation
MAAG’s existing portfolio includes gear pumps, filtration systems, pelletizing equipment, pulverizing systems and recycling technology. Its equipment serves virgin-polymer production, compounding, masterbatch, extrusion and recycling applications.
Gear pumps stabilize polymer-melt flow and pressure. Filtration systems remove contamination, while pelletizing and pulverizing equipment prepare material for subsequent processing.
Adding Cloeren gives MAAG access to feedblock and die technology located further downstream in the extrusion line.
Dover said the acquisition would add complementary extrusion technologies and allow MAAG to offer a broader and more complete solution across polymer-processing applications.
Moving from individual machines toward integrated lines
Polymer-equipment suppliers increasingly compete by providing integrated production-line solutions rather than isolated machines.
When a customer installs or upgrades an extrusion line, the extruder, pump, filter, feedblock and die must operate with compatible pressure, temperature, flow and control parameters. Using multiple independent suppliers can create longer commissioning periods and uncertainty over responsibility when performance problems arise.
The combination of MAAG and Cloeren could allow Dover to participate earlier in production-line design and improve compatibility across a larger group of components.
It may also create additional opportunities in replacement parts, maintenance, upgrades and technical service.
For Dover, the strategic benefit is not simply adding another equipment category. It is increasing MAAG’s technical role and customer exposure across the polymer-processing line.
Recycled polymers create additional equipment demands
Plastics recycling is increasing the technical requirements placed on extrusion systems. Recycled feedstock frequently has greater contamination, viscosity variation and batch inconsistency than virgin resin, requiring more capable filtration, melt stabilization and flow control.
MAAG already offers filtration, pelletizing and direct-processing equipment for recycled plastics. Adding Cloeren’s feedblock and die capabilities could extend the combined portfolio from recycled-melt preparation into film and sheet forming.
That conclusion remains a strategic inference. Dover did not disclose recycling-specific orders, revenue targets or a detailed post-acquisition product roadmap.
The deal is therefore better described as strengthening MAAG’s extrusion capabilities across both virgin and recycled polymers, rather than as a stand-alone bet on recycling.
Financial impact remains undisclosed
Dover did not provide Cloeren’s revenue, earnings, workforce or purchase valuation. It also did not quantify the expected contribution to Dover’s 2026 results.
That makes it difficult to assess the acquisition’s immediate financial return.
Long-term value will depend on cross-selling, customer overlap, manufacturing integration and growth in aftermarket services. Custom equipment demand can also fluctuate with capital-spending cycles in plastics, packaging and chemical manufacturing.
From a technology perspective, however, the fit is clear: MAAG specializes in pumping, filtration, pelletizing and recycling, while Cloeren adds feedblock engineering and final melt-distribution technology.
