Statistics Bureau: PMI of manufacturing industry increased significantly
On May 31, the Service Industry Survey Center of the National Bureau of Statistics and the China Logistics and Purchasing Federation released the China Purchasing Manager Index. In response, Zhao Qinghe, a senior statistician at the Service Industry Survey Center of the National Bureau of Statistics, said that in May, the purchasing manager index of manufacturing industry rose significantly, the business activity index of non-manufacturing industry rose for three consecutive months, and the comprehensive PMI output index rose to its highest level in the year. Zhao Qinghe pointed out that in May, the PMI of manufacturing industry was 51.9%, which was higher than 0.5 and 0.7 percentage points in the same period last month and last year.
As a high point since October 2017, the pace of expansion of manufacturing industry accelerated and the momentum of development further strengthened. In May, the non-manufacturing business activity index was 54.9%, rising by 0.1 percentage points and 0.4 percentage points, respectively, compared with the same period last year. The overall non-manufacturing industry continued to develop steadily and steadily with an upward momentum. Services continued to improve. The business activity index of service industry is 54.0%, which is 0.2 percentage points higher than last month and 0.5 percentage points higher than the same period of last year. It is the second highest point in the year. Consumption plays a more obvious role in promoting the growth of service industry. From the perspective of industry categories, air transport, postal express, telecommunications, Internet software and other industries closely related to consumption business activity index continues to be in the high boom of more than 60.0%, strong expansion momentum; retail, accommodation and other traditional industries business activity index is higher than the overall level of the service industry.
The business activity index of capital market, residential service and other industries is below the critical point, and the total business volume has fallen. From the perspective of market demand, the new order index is 50.4%, up 0.1 percentage points, higher than the critical point for two consecutive months, and the market demand keeps expanding. In terms of comprehensive PMI output index, Zhao Qinghe pointed out that in May, the comprehensive PMI output index was 54.6%, higher than 0.5 percentage points last month, indicating that the overall expansion of production and operation activities of Chinese enterprises has accelerated. Among them, the manufacturing production index and the non-manufacturing business activity index, which constitute the comprehensive PMI output index, are 54.1% and 54.9%. The ring-to-ring ratio has risen. This month, the growth rate of the manufacturing production index is higher than that of the non-manufacturing business activity index.
