Honeywell Q2 Sales Jump to $10.4 Billion Profit Up 8% Outpaces BASF and Dow Amid Global Headwinds
Honeywell delivered strong second-quarter results, defying the downturn seen at industry peers BASF and Dow. Sales surged to $10.4 billion, up 8% year-on-year, with organic growth at 5%. Operating income reached $2.11 billion, up 7%, and segment profit climbed 8% to $2.4 billion. Adjusted EPS hit $2.75, marking a 10% increase.
Key growth drivers included double-digit organic gains in both aerospace and UOP businesses. Building automation also posted an 8% sales jump, with strong performances in fire, security, and management systems. Despite a 30 basis-point contraction in operating margin, profitability aligned with forecasts.
Honeywell’s transformation is accelerating:
- Three-way split: The board has approved the separation of automation, aerospace, and advanced materials businesses, creating three public companies by late 2026.
- Aggressive M&A: Since December, $13.5 billion in acquisitions announced, including Johnson Matthey’s catalyst business and Sundyne, with another $1.3 billion returned to shareholders via buybacks in Q2.
- Portfolio optimization: Sale of personal protective equipment for $1.3 billion completed; strategic reviews of other units ongoing.
Looking ahead, Honeywell raised its full-year guidance, forecasting $40.8–41.3 billion in sales and adjusted EPS of $10.45–10.65, topping previous expectations. Segment margin improvements and high-return investments are expected to drive further outperformance.
In a quarter where global chemical giants reported sharp declines, Honeywell’s robust growth and strategic overhaul stand out as a rare bright spot for the sector.
