IMCD to Acquire 100% of Italian Coatings Distributor Tillmanns
IMCD, a global distribution and formulation partner of specialty chemicals and ingredients, has signed an agreement to acquire 100% of the shares of Tillmanns.
Founded in 1940 and headquartered in Milan, Italy, Tillmanns is a well-established distributor of specialty chemicals and a trusted partner for both global suppliers and a broad customer base. Strongly rooted in the Italian market, the company serves diverse industries including coatings, construction, food & nutrition, and water treatment.
With a comprehensive high-end product portfolio and a team of 78 professionals, Tillmanns is recognized for its technical expertise, long-term partnerships, and solid commercial execution. The company also operates a logistics hub and an in-house R&D laboratory in Milan, providing advanced testing, tailor-made formulations, and technical support to meet evolving market demands. In 2024, Tillmanns generated annual revenue of approximately €143 million.
For IMCD, this acquisition represents a strategically significant step. It strengthens the company’s scale and market position in Italy, while unlocking growth opportunities across industrial and food markets. Tillmanns’ premium positioning and exclusive supplier relationships align perfectly with IMCD’s commitment to delivering value-driven solutions, digital excellence, and large-scale technical expertise to both customers and suppliers.
Marcus Jordan, CEO of IMCD, commented:“This acquisition marks an important milestone in our expansion in Italy. Tillmanns brings deep local expertise, a loyal customer base, and a strong platform for growth in industrial, water treatment, and food applications. This makes them an invaluable partner for our Italian customers, suppliers, and teams. We are also very pleased to welcome a highly skilled and experienced team that will add real value to our organization, strengthen business continuity, and deepen relationships with our stakeholders.”
The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals and is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025.
