Recent Domestic Refinery Petroleum Coke Prices Continue to Rise

ECHEMI 2025-08-07

August 4th news

According to the commodity analysis system, the recent market for petroleum coke produced by local refineries in China has continued to rise. As of August 3rd, the price of petroleum coke in the Shandong market was 2415.00 CNY/ton, an increase of 3.09% from 2342.50 CNY/ton on July 28th.

Recently, crude oil prices have generally risen, mainly due to the new trade agreement reached between the United States and the European Union, the possibility of new sanctions against Russia by the U.S., and the continued weakening of concerns about U.S. tariffs.

Recently, the domestic petroleum coke market has been mainly stable, with refineries showing acceptable sales. The prices of petroleum coke from some refineries have fluctuated significantly based on specifications, with mixed increases and decreases in prices. Downstream enterprises' demand has been relatively steady. The benchmark procurement price for prebaked anodes in August fell by 10 CNY/ton compared to July, resulting in moderate enthusiasm for purchasing petroleum coke, although overall prices have risen. Recently, the trading of petroleum coke at ports has been average, with stable shipments and sufficient port inventory. Downstream enterprises have maintained rigid demand procurement.

Recently, the calcined coke market has seen a slight increase. In terms of costs, the overall price of petroleum coke in China has risen, with some manufacturers raising their prices.

Post-market forecast: Currently, trading in the petroleum coke market remains relatively active. Downstream rigid demand procurement continues to support the petroleum coke market, but purchasing is cautious. It is expected that petroleum coke prices will likely consolidate in the near term.
