NCP Coatings Acquires Glyptal, Manufacturer of High-Performance Insulating Enamels
NCP Coatings LLC, a manufacturer of industrial and military-grade coatings, has acquired Glyptal Inc., a well-established producer of high-performance insulating enamels serving the electrical and automotive sectors. This marks NCP’s first acquisition since securing private equity backing and aligns with its long-term strategy to build a market-leading, technology-driven coatings platform focused on specialized industrial applications.
Originally a research division of General Electric, Glyptal later became a privately held company known for its durable, heat-resistant, and highly insulating coatings used in motors, transformers, coils, and other industrial equipment. Its products are trusted by both OEMs and the aftermarket for their consistent performance.
Under the terms of the acquisition, the Glyptal brand will remain intact, with operations consolidated into NCP’s headquarters in Niles, Michigan. Customers will continue to receive the same proven formulations, now supported by NCP’s broader portfolio of industrial and military coatings.
The transaction closed on July 31, 2025. Members of the Glyptal ownership family will assist with the transition over the coming months before exiting the business.
Doug Mattscheck, CEO of NCP Coatings, emphasized the strategic value of the acquisition, noting that Glyptal’s expertise in electrical insulation coatings complements NCP’s vision of expanding in technically demanding specialty markets. The addition enhances NCP’s product range, opens new end-use applications, and underscores its commitment to growth through technical innovation.
Backed by Century Park Capital Partners, a Los Angeles-based private equity firm specializing in owner-led businesses, NCP continues to advance its mission of becoming a leader in the middle-market industrial and defense coatings space.
Lacey Meer, Chief Commercial Officer at NCP, reaffirmed the company's dedication to a seamless integration, ensuring uninterrupted service and product continuity for Glyptal’s customers, while providing access to expanded capabilities and offerings.
A representative of Glyptal expressed confidence in the transition, stating that NCP shares Glyptal’s values of technical excellence and customer focus, and is well-positioned to build on the brand’s legacy and unlock new opportunities for its products and clients.
