HighChem and Jiangxi Zhongxin Aksum Launch HFO-1233zd in Japan Low GWP and Zero ODP Products Target Surging Insulation and Semiconductor Demand
Global chemical player HighChem is partnering with Jiangxi Zhongxin Aksum New Materials to introduce HFO-1233zd to the Japanese market, kicking off sample testing for this next-generation, eco-friendly fluorinated olefin. The flagship HFO products boast a global warming potential (GWP) below 1 and zero ozone depletion potential (ODP), while offering non-flammability and low toxicity—making them attractive alternatives as regulations tighten.
Founded in 2018, Jiangxi Zhongxin Aksum has rapidly become a leading Chinese HFO manufacturer, leveraging proprietary technology and in-house production to deliver high-quality products. The company’s HFO-1233zd (E) is primarily used as a rigid polyurethane foam blowing agent, essential for building insulation and refrigeration. With energy efficiency standards rising, demand for these materials is set to surge. HFO-1233zd (E) can also serve as a refrigerant in air conditioning systems.
Meanwhile, HFO-1233zd (Z) acts as a fluorinated solvent for industrial applications such as semiconductor cleaning—offering premium degreasing performance. As traditional CFC and HCFC solvents are phased out due to environmental concerns, and HFCs are discontinued, HFOs emerge as the ultimate solution for safe, sustainable cleaning and degreasing, possibly replacing bromine-based solvents under stricter regulation.
HighChem, as exclusive distributor, will ensure stable supply, provide custom product development, and optimize logistics for Japanese clients. This collaboration is set to address Japan’s soaring insulation needs due to stricter energy rules, expanding domestic semiconductor investment, and rising demand for safe, high-performance HFO solvents.
With this partnership, HighChem and Jiangxi Zhongxin Aksum are poised to secure a leadership role in Japan’s transition to greener, safer chemical solutions.
