FDA Issues Import Alert 99-38 for Guangxi Wuzhou Company Herbal Jelly Products Face Automatic Detention
On August 15, 2025, the US FDA updated its import alert list, placing Guangxi Wuzhou Changhong Food Co., Ltd.’s herbal jelly products under Import Alert 99-38 for inadequate production process controls. The measure means shipments from this company will be subject to automatic detention without physical examination at US ports.
Automatic detention is a risk-based FDA response for suspect imported foods, requiring affected products to pass FDA or accredited lab tests and receive approval from local FDA branches before customs clearance. This does not automatically mean non-compliance with US standards, but it does delay market entry.
Exporters are urged to strictly follow destination country requirements to ensure product safety and avoid detention risks. Companies must pay extra attention to production controls and documentation to maintain smooth access to overseas markets.
