Chugoku Paints Completes Second Acquisition of 2025, Strengthening its European Foothold
Chugoku Marine Paints (CMP), a leading industrial coatings producer, has completed its second acquisition this year, aiming to solidify its presence in Europe . On August 27, the company announced that through its European subsidiary CHUGOKU PAINTS B.V. (CPBV), it acquired all remaining minority shares of CHUGOKU-BOAT Italy S.p.A., its Italian sales subsidiary, making it a wholly-owned unit. This move marks another important milestone in CMP’s European market integration, as CHUGOKU-BOAT (which markets marine and industrial coatings in Italy) is now fully under the group’s control.
Earlier in 2025, Chugoku Paints had also acquired 100% of ITALO BELGE COLORI S.r.L. (ITB) – an Italian coatings manufacturer – establishing a local production base in Europe. By adding ITB’s manufacturing capacity, CMP significantly boosted its regional production capabilities and cut delivery times, laying a solid foundation for growth in European markets. The latest acquisition of the Italian sales arm complements this strategy by unifying production and sales.
Company officials stated these acquisitions are part of a broader strategy to expand CMP’s business scale in Europe and enhance its global supply chain . With Europe being a key market, CMP is investing in both manufacturing and distribution to better serve local customers and improve competitiveness. Despite a modest overall sales growth forecast for FY2025 (CMP projects ¥66 billion sales, +1.4% YoY) , the company is bullish on long-term prospects. By integrating its European operations and pursuing further strategic opportunities, Chugoku Paints demonstrates strong confidence in global expansion and a commitment to long-term development in the international coatings arena.
