Phenol Market Broadly Declines Since November, Then Gradually Stabilizes
November 10, news
In November, the Chinese phenol market experienced a significant decline before gradually stabilizing. Sinopec's listed price in East China was set at 6,300 CNY per ton. According to monitored data, from the perspective of the East China market, on November 1st, the price of phenol in China was 6,415 CNY per ton, and on November 10th, the price of phenol in China was 6,292 CNY per ton, a price decrease of 1.91%.
Since November, phenol prices have continued to decline. In terms of supply, the total volume of phenol shipments in East China is 17,000 tons, and the overall operating rate of Chinese companies is around 75%. On the demand side, the demand for downstream bisphenol A is expected to increase, while other downstream sectors remain largely unchanged. As for costs, there has been little overall fluctuation.
On the 10th, Hengli Petrochemical's 650,000-ton-per-year facility was temporarily shut down for maintenance. Traders may have a sentiment to support prices, leading to a slight increase in quotations, but transactions remain to be observed.
As of November 10, the phenol quotations in major markets across China are as follows:
| Region | November 10 Quote | November 1-10 Change |
|---|---|---|
| East China Region | 6,250 | -70 |
| Shandong Region | 6,300 | -100 |
| Yanshan Area | 6,300 | -100 |
| South China Region | 6,320 | -180 |
Supply is expected to tighten in the short term, while costs are set to rise slightly. As a result, the overall Chinese phenol market is likely to remain relatively stable, with attention focused on actual transaction negotiations.
