Production Increase This Week's 2-Ethylhexanol Prices Rebound and Rise in China
November 24th News
This week, the price of 2-ethylhexanol in China rebounded and increased.
According to the commodity market analysis system, as of November 24, the price of isooctanol was 6,250 CNY per ton, a decrease of 4.17% from the price of 6,000 CNY per ton on November 14. Some companies have reduced maintenance on isooctanol equipment, and the operating load of isooctanol production facilities has slightly increased, with an 80% operating rate, ensuring sufficient supply of isooctanol. The price of propylene has fluctuated upward, leading to an increase in the cost of isooctanol. This week, with sufficient supply of isooctanol, the support for price increases has strengthened, and the pressure for price decreases has weakened, resulting in a fluctuating upward trend in the price of isooctanol.
Rising Costs of Propylene Raw Material
According to the commodity market analysis system, as of November 24, the price of propylene was 6080.75 CNY/ton, up from 5965.75 CNY/ton on November 14, with a price increase of 1.93%. This week, the price of propylene has been fluctuating upward, with an increase in the cost of raw materials and an increase in the cost of 2-ethylhexanol, leading to greater support for the rise in 2-ethylhexanol prices.
Downstream plasticizer DOP prices rebound and rise in China
According to the commodity market analysis system, as of November 24, the DOP price was 6967.50 CNY/ton, an increase of 1.22% from the DOP price of 6883.34 CNY/ton on November 14. The cost of DOP has risen, leading to an increase in DOP prices. This week, the operating load of DOP plasticizer enterprises in China slightly increased, with an operating rate of 70%, resulting in an increase in DOP production. The demand for 2-ethylhexanol has also increased, providing stronger support for the rise in 2-ethylhexanol prices.
Future Market Expectations
The octanol product data analyst notes that, on the cost front, propylene prices have been fluctuating upward, driving up raw material costs and intensifying the upward momentum for isooctanol. On the supply side, isooctanol producers have seen a slight increase in operating rates, ensuring ample availability of the product. Meanwhile, demand is strengthening as DOP manufacturers ramp up operations slightly, leading to higher DOP output and providing solid support for isooctanol demand. Looking ahead, rising production costs combined with robust supply and recovering demand suggest that downward pressure on isooctanol prices is easing, while upward momentum is gaining traction. As a result, the analyst expects isooctanol prices to trend upward in a volatile manner over the coming period.
