BASF will build a global catalyst development center in Ludwigshafen

ECHEMI 2021-08-27

According to a Hydrocarbon Processing report on August 24, 2021, German chemical giant BASF is strengthening its global catalyst development and helping customers to bring new products to the market faster. As part of this strategy, BASF is building a new pilot plant center in Ludwigshafen, Germany. The new catalyst development and solid processing center will become a global center for chemical catalyst test scale production and process innovation. The construction of a new pilot plant center in Ludwigshafen also emphasizes the importance of this location for global research. The new office building of the Global Catalyst Development Center is expected to be completed in mid-2024.

Dr. Peter Schuhacher, President of BASF Catalysts, said: "The new catalyst development and solids processing center strengthens our focus on innovative and sustainable solutions that benefit our customers and the environment. This is our continued commitment to the innovation of our chemical catalyst product portfolio. A powerful symbol. It allows us to respond more quickly to market demands and contribute to a more sustainable chemical industry."

Dr. Detlef Ruff, Senior Vice President of Process Catalysts at BASF, said: “The new catalyst development center supports our growth strategy for our chemical catalyst business. This sends a strong signal to our customers that we at BASF are committed to innovating the process catalyst portfolio and upgrading new products. To market quickly. The new pilot plant also supports closer cooperation with our development partners to jointly promote innovation."

Specifically, the new pilot plant helps chemical catalyst experts to transfer laboratory formulas to production scale faster, and produce new catalyst samples on a technical scale with a shorter delivery time. Therefore, customers can obtain new catalyst technology faster-this is a key factor in successfully introducing new products to the market.
