New Paints Arrive in Trio of Formulations

Pittsburgh-based PPG Paints on Monday (May 22) announced three new product formulations.

“With greater durability and overall performance qualities, these reformulated PPG Paints products outperform competitive products in many areas and demonstrate clear, improved benefits as shown through extensive laboratory testing,” said Jennifer Burroughs, PPG senior product marketing manager, in a press release. “The enhancements address common job-site concerns from professionals, such as dirt resistance and flash rust resistance, to ensure better application experiences for them, and exceptional results for their customers.”

Trio of Coatings

The new PPG Paints product formulations are:

Perma-Crete Pitt-Flex elastomeric coating is a 100 percent acrylic formula that promotes dirt resistance and a flexible bond to prevent hairline cracks and protect against water infiltration. The company says the reformulated product can be applied to concrete that is more than seven days old and has a pH level of less than 13, and is suitable for use in temperatures as low as minus-35 degrees Fahrenheit.

Speedhide Pro-EV Zero provides hide and coverage, adhesion, uniformity and broad color-matching capabilities with a zero-VOC formula. PPG Paints says the product blends into the original coating for less sheen variation during touch-ups.

Sun-Proof Exterior Latex house and trim paint resists cracking, peeling and flaking, according to the company—even after exposure to adverse weather conditions. PPG says sun-proof paint is formulated for its dirt-resistance properties; surface dirt and grime can be removed with soap and water. The paint’s flash rust resistance ensures that rust from items such as nail heads won’t bleed through the surface. VOC levels of sun-proof paint are less than 50 grams per liter, which makes the product VOC-compliant in all regulated areas.
