Recently, Sichuan Green Chemical Industry Mechanisms Office officially issued "Green Chemical Industry Cultivation Program" and proposed to speed up the development of new chemical materials and fine chemicals. By 2022, the main business income of green chemical industry in Sichuan Province will be 500 billion yuan, with an average annual growth of about 7%, making Sichuan a strong province of green chemical industry.

"By building bases, strengthening industrial chains and nurturing enterprises, the layout of chemical industry will be further optimized, circular economy will be created, and the green development of chemical industry will be promoted." The head of the Chemical Department of the Sichuan Bureau of Economy and Information Technology said that Sichuan Province will take the Lead of source emission reduction, key pollutant treatment, energy saving and energy efficiency improvement to promote industrial agglomeration of chemical parks and realize waste reduction and resource utilization.

Requirements of the Program, Sichuan Province will focus on building eight hundred billion grade green chemical industry bases in the future, namely, Chengdu, Meishan, Yibin, Luzhou, Suining, Nanchong, Guangan and Dazhou, to form six hundred billion yuan of petroleum refining and chemical integration, polyolefin polyester deep processing, natural gas deep processing, salt phosphorus chemical industry, Sulfur phosphorus titanium chemical industry, high-end fine chemicals and special chemical materials. Thirty enterprises with strong industry-driven annual sales revenue of more than 5 billion yuan should be nurtured to form an "8+6+30" industrial development pattern. The development priorities and main tasks are also clearly defined in the Program. Sichuan province will focus on new chemical materials, fine chemical industry, natural gas chemical industry, salt chemical industry, sulfur, phosphorus and titanium chemical industry, petrochemical industry, comprehensive development of lithium and potassium, engineering design consultation, chemical equipment manufacturing and other fields, optimize the industrial layout, cultivate innovative platforms to break through a number of key technologies, cultivate and strengthen the main market.

The plan also lays out the green chemical industry in the five economic zones according to the development strategy of "one stem and more branches". Among them, Chengdu Plain Economic Zone will focus on developing advanced carbon materials such as petrochemical industry, new chemical materials and high-end fine chemicals such as Graphene and nuclear graphite. South Sichuan Economic Zone mainly promotes the transformation and upgrading of traditional chemical industry in South Sichuan, and develops fine chemicals, heavy oil (asphalt) processing, modern coal chemical industry, modern chlor-alkali chemical industry, fluorine chemical industry and new chemical materials. For Northeast Sichuan Economic Zone, the development of natural gas chemical industry and comprehensive utilization of new chemical materials, polyhalite potassium salt, coal and other resources will be the focus. Panxi Economic Zone and Northwest Sichuan Ecological Demonstration Zone focus on the development of high-energy chemical industry, titanium chemical industry, phosphorus chemical industry, graphite and other industries.
