Green Diet Demand Met by Bespoke Vegetable Batters

A UK-based ingredients firm has tapped into the trend for ‘greener’ diets by developing a bespoke range of batters for deep-fried vegetable snacks.
Examples include coloured, textured and visually appealing batters for tempura vegetables, flavour sprinkles, and coatings and crumbs for cauliflower.
They have been developed for food manufacturers, foodservice and retailers to customise vegetable products, said maker Dalziel Ingredients.
The rise of spiralising
It follows the rise of spiralising, cauliflower rice, flexitarian diets, hidden veg and the general reduction of carbohydrates in diets, the company added.
“There is growing demand to take the health benefits of vegetables and increase their appeal to people of all ages,” said product development manager Fran Hutton.
“We help clients look for interesting ways to add a new twist to their menus. At our development centre, we focus on taking ideas and delivering appealing, commercially viable end-products.”
