Plant Protein Demand Can Be Met by Alfalfa
Made from the alfalfa plant, Luzixeen is 45–60% protein of “high biological quality”, meeting the growing demand for plant-based protein, according to its maker Luzerne Recherche et Développement.
It also contains vitamins K, E, B9 and B6, beta-Carotene, CALCIUM, Iron and omega-3.
The ingredient can be sprinkled on salads, or added to soups and yogurts. It can also be used in bars, beverages, biscuits and protein shakes.
France produces 700,000t of alfalfa every year, mainly for animal feed.
Vitafoods took place in Geneva from May 9–11.
