SABIC Is The First to Introduce The Certified Renewable Polymer Based on Haihai Plastics
Recently, SABIC, a world-renowned diversified chemical company, and HHI, a plastic recycling company based in Malaysia, jointly announced a groundbreaking cooperation. It plans to use advanced recycling technology to recycle mixed sea-trending plastics, and then produce the world’s first sea-trending plastic. Plastic is a raw material and a certified renewable polymer. In the next few months, based on SABIC TRUCIRCLETM product portfolio recycling solutions, SABIC customers will successively launch a series of brand new consumer products made with this renewable polymer.
Recycling sea-trending plastics not only helps protect the ocean and waterway environment, but also promotes the reuse of recycled plastics in related industries, thereby creating value for local communities. In this cooperation, HHI's local partners in Malaysia first recovered relevant materials from the seawater channels and land areas within a radius of 50 kilometers of the coastline, and then transported them to HHI, where they were converted into a series of advanced recycling technologies. Pyrolysis oil. After that, SABIC will use the pyrolysis oil in its production process to replace traditional fossil raw materials to produce a brand-new renewable polymer, and the renewable polymer has passed the Zero Plastic Oceans certification. Through the cooperation between the two parties, HHI has therefore become the first company to obtain the certification to recycle Haihai plastics.
HHI has created a set of trend-sea plastic recycling model to realize the transformation of circular economy, including five major steps: first, collect trend-sea plastics with a wide network of partners; second, transform it into high-quality raw materials suitable for subsequent production and processing ; Third, to collaborate with partners to develop new products; fourth, to provide customers with a platform to support their use of more sustainable materials; fifth, to cultivate a new generation of responsible consumers who favor sustainable materials.
