Prices of secondary coke increased by 84.3 CNY/ton in the first ten days of May

According to the latest data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on May 14, in early May, the price of coke (secondary coke) was reported at 1848.8 CNY/ton, an increase of 84.3 CNY/ton, or 4.8 percent, over the previous period, and the increase was further expanded by 2.9 percentage points over the latter part of April. Driven by the strong demand downstream and the decline of inventory in the factory, coke enterprises put forward a second round of price increase, which is accepted by a few downstream steel enterprises.
Downstream steel market due to weak demand, prices continued to fall, and Tangshan environmental protection production restriction, although not as expected, but the steel enterprise's start-up rate has declined; at this time, Shanxi broke out that environmental protection supervision fraud, environmental protection work is not effective, by the Ministry of Environmental Protection's name criticism, the industry mostly think that later Shanxi environmental protection will become stricter.
According to the understanding of China Coal Resources Network, recent environmental protection inspections in Shanxi are stringent, and some coke enterprises in Luliang area have limited their production by a small margin, ranging from 10 to 20%. In view of this, the downstream purchasing enthusiasm has increased, so it is expected that the second round of increase in coke probability will fall in recent days.
At present, downstream coke enterprises are still relatively high. With the gradual landing of the second round of increase, the profits of coke enterprises have improved, with different degrees of recovery, positive shipment and low in-plant inventory. On the port side, coke stocks in Shandong and Shandong ports continued to climb, and traders were more bullish. Quasi-first-class metallurgical coke quotation in the port increased slightly by about 50 CNY/ton.
On May 13, 2019, Shanxi Luliang quasi-primary metallurgical coke was 190 CNY/ton, up 100 CNY/ton from the same period last week, up 200 CNY/ton from the same period last month; Hebei Tangshan quasi-primary metallurgical coke was 2110 CNY/ton, up 100 CNY/ton from the same period last week, up 200 CNY/ton from the same period last month; Shandong Rizhao quasi-primary metallurgical coke was 2070 CNY/ton, up 70 CNY/ton from the same period last week, up 12 CNY/ton from the same period last month. 0 CNY/ton. The participants in the short-term coke market are more optimistic. In the later stage, the coke price mainly focuses on the impact of environmental protection on the production limit of coke steel enterprises and the change of steel market profit.
